The second instalment is the most contrasted of the trilogy: the blinding white of Hoth, the greenish mist soaked swamps of Dagobah, then the coppery tones of Cloud City. The walker sequence, handled in Mode 7 with the tow cable, remains one of the rare moments when a game of that era reproduces a film scene at this scale.
Still carried by John Williams's immortal themes, the sequel deploys a symphonic score of heightened nobility and intensity, faithful to the world of The Empire Strikes Back. From the cold of Hoth to the tensest duels, the music galvanises every clash. This sonic grandeur, faithful to the myth, leaves a lasting mark.
