The Japanese edition of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition is the original pressing, released by Capcom with a more saturated domestic sleeve than the international versions. Desirability rests on its 3DS launch status in Japan and on the visual identity of the local market, distinct from the Western artwork.

Better with friends

A legendary 2D fighter brought to handheld, where two players measure up in duels with a system that's rich, readable and terribly deep. The competition rests on positioning, anti-airs and reading intentions, rewarding patience as much as reflexes. The small screen can bother long sessions, but once going, the one-on-one regains all its snap and its addictive craving for a rematch.

Is Super Street Fighter IV - 3D Edition still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2011 on 3DS at the console's launch, Capcom's project brings the great fighting simulation to the handheld with surprising success, without sacrificing the depth of its system. The vast roster, the rigour of the bouts built on timing and spacing and a novel third person view mode make for a careful adaptation. The optional simplified controls open the game to newcomers, while the classic setup satisfies purists. The online play, once active, has closed. An excellent portable fighting game, recommended for fans of technical versus fighting and of play on the go.
