Collector interest

NES port of Taito's Renegade brawler, released late in the United States in early 1992 as attention was already shifting to the Super NES. That tail-end timing explains its scarcity sealed, where value far outstrips the common loose cart. The Taito-licensed box and end-of-generation release window make it a quiet NTSC edition, yet one tracked by collectors of the console's late side-scrolling brawlers.

Is Target - Renegade still worth playing in 2026?

A sequel to the beat them up Renegade from Taito, Target - Renegade sends a fighter to clean up the streets of a gang ridden city, with fists, kicks and grabs, solo or in twos. The variety of enemies, the urban levels and the co-op action bring an effective catharsis, faithful to the series' pugnacious spirit. The handling stays a touch stiff and the difficulty high, as often at the time. For a fan of retro beat them ups or someone nostalgic for two player brawling, the title keeps a raw energy and an action pleasure still present.
