Game Boy TMNT/TMHT sequel. More elaborate levels, varied enemies, beefed-up Shredder. Harder and more ambitious than Fall of the Foot Clan, but the formula wears out fast and the GB engine doesn't always keep up. For die-hard portable Konami fans; otherwise the first stays more approachable.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the Japanese version of Konami's sequel on Game Boy, in which the Turtles pursue Shredder. Like the first entry, this Japanese edition saw a more restricted distribution than its Western counterparts, on a market where the licence went by another title. Its desirability lies in that regional scarcity, the acknowledged quality of Konami beat 'em ups and fans' quest to gather the portable series.

Is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 still worth playing in 2026?

The Game Boy sequel to the Ninja Turtles from Konami, Back from the Sewers expands the first game's formula with more elaborate levels, new combat mechanics and the pursuit of Shredder. The four turtles stay playable with their quirks, and the staging gains variety and ambition. The richer handling and the polished level design fix part of the original's limits. For a Turtles fan or a lover of portable beat them ups, this sequel stays the most accomplished on the machine and still enjoyable.
