The second TMNT on NES, American version. Co-op beat'em up improved over the first, special attacks and more pizzas. Konami at the genre's peak. One of the best beat'em ups on the console.

Konami enlarges the turtles' format and enriches the scenery: a snowbound Manhattan, surfing on waves, an airship, sewers. The layered planes multiply in the background, and each turtle receives additional attack animations, notably throws that send enemies toward the front of the frame.
The writing exploits the chip with the studio's characteristic density: a mobile bass, a continuous countermelody, themes built in distinct sections rather than simple loops. Each level gets its piece, and the character selection theme, short and immediately recognisable, opens every session on the same signature.

The Japanese cart is markedly rarer boxed than the US NES version and is part of the Konami Turtles catalogue now reissued in 'The Cowabunga Collection'.
