Description
Tetris sequel featuring a Flash mode in which colored blocks match by color. Published by Nintendo, released in Europe in 1993. Classic Tetris mode and Flash mode with blocks to align by color. European version of Nintendo's Tetris 2 on NES.
A Nintendo variation on the falling block myth, Tetris 2 drops line clearing in favour of a colour matching system, where you must connect identical blocks around fixed pieces to make them disappear. This change of paradigm puzzles purists but opens a different strategy, closer to a connection puzzle. The colourful presentation and the clarity stay polished. The mixed reception mostly owes to the original's shadow. For a fan of puzzling or someone curious about an unexpected reworking of Tetris, the title keeps an honest mechanic and a certain charm.
