Splinter Cell lays the groundwork for modern stealth. Sam Fisher, night-vision gadgets and clever levels. Rougher than its sequels, but a founding classic.

Is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell still worth playing in 2026?

The first entry in Ubisoft's stealth series, Splinter Cell imposes Sam Fisher and his play of light and shadow, where you slip through the gloom, neutralise guards in silence and advance without ever triggering the alarm. The exemplary lighting management, the tension of infiltration and the arsenal of gadgets make it a pillar of the stealth genre. The sometimes stiff handling and the demand of trial and error have aged a little. An excellent stealth game for fans of methodical stealth and Tom Clancy style espionage.
