The Japanese edition keeps the road rendering of the Western release but gives more prominence to the dashboard and workshop screens: legible gauges, parts lists, car silhouettes presented in profile as in a catalogue. On the track readability still comes first, with rivals in bright colours that never blend into the scenery.
Still signed by Barry Leitch, the sequel enriches its supercharged synth-rock with new, even catchier and more energetic themes. Each circuit pulses with a galvanising groove that charges the sense of speed. This sonic generosity, faithful to the series' spirit, confirms the composer's talent for the racing game.
