A sequel by High Moon, Transformers Fall of Cybertron extends the epic on the robots' home planet with spectacular staging praised by license fans. Pulled from sale after the Hasbro license expired, it now exists only in boxed form, which is sought. Its interest lies in this status as a game gone from digital stores as much as in its quality.
Better with friends
A licensed robot action-shooter whose multiplayer modes marry competitive clashes and cooperative survival against enemy waves. The competition rewards mastering the vehicle-robot transformation, while the horde mode tightens bonds around a shared defense. The original online leans on uncertain servers, but the idea of switching form on the fly keeps a playful, snappy charm.

Transformers Fall of Cybertron is without question one of the best Transformers games of the generation, an excellent third-person shooter set on the robots' home planet, before their exile to Earth. The polished presentation, the lore fidelity and the variety of playable characters, each with their own abilities, make for a brisk and generous solo campaign. The combat, blending shooting and on-the-fly transformation, stays brisk and exhilarating. The multiplayer, once solid, depends on now-deserted servers. But the solo amply justifies the visit. For the fan of Autobots and Decepticons, this title is an essential success.
