GTA-style cop sandbox with brawling and gunplay. Decent open world, repetitive missions, kitschy plot. Acceptable at the time, well behind Rockstar's offerings today.

Is True Crime - New York City still worth playing in 2026?
Released in 2005, this Activision entry moves the urban crime drama to New York and widens the investigation with interrogations, searches and moral choices that weigh on the cop's career. The open structure lets you roam a recreated metropolis between main missions and spontaneous interventions. The narrative ambition is real, yet the execution suffers from bugs and uneven polish that hurt its reputation. Fans of open world action will mostly find an uneven experience, more interesting for its ideas than its execution.
