A SNES port of Ultima VII, Ultima - The Black Gate is here the US NTSC edition, the only Western console version of the game. Its interest is chiefly historical: a tough technical compromise that squeezes an ambitious PC CRPG down, with trimmed gameplay making it a conversion curio rather than a triumph.
