A port of Telenet's action game, Valis has you play the warrior Yuko, Valis sword in hand, across platform levels against demons, in a Japanese fantasy mood with careful cutscenes. The blend of 2D action and narrative staging gave it character, but the stiff handling and uneven level design have aged. The mood stays the strong point. A curiosity for fans of retro action-platforming with a narrative component and lovers of the Valis series.
