A hybrid NES action-platformer with driving, shooting and platforming phases. Delightful variety of situations. Overlooked but truly excellent and well-made. A pleasant surprise.

Collector interest

American Sammy cyberpunk action game released in 1991, a hybrid alternating platforming, driving and gun shooting in a dark urban plot. Released late and thinly distributed, the title gained cult status among late-NES fans, praised for its pacing and polished execution. Desirability combines that hidden-gem reputation with real scarcity: complete copies keep a low profile, sought by hunters of underrated American action.

An underrated gem

Blending sword-action stages, in-car shootouts, and first-person shooting, this Sammy title juggles play styles with rare generosity and a wholehearted cyberpunk story. Lost in the flood of late releases, it left little mark. Its variety and brisk pace make it a good pick for fans of eclectic action.

Is Vice - Project Doom still worth playing in 2026?

An action adventure from Aicom, Vice - Project Doom impresses with its varied structure, alternating snappy Ninja Gaiden style platforming, driving sequences and shooting gallery passages, all wrapped in cinematic staging. A cop with powers dismantles a criminal organisation in a brisk story. The diversity of situations, the quality of the presentation and the sustained tempo make it an unfairly overlooked gem. For a fan of varied retro action or someone curious about NES treasures, the title keeps a remarkable generosity and cachet.
