Its isometric perspective, alluring yet treacherous, complicates every dodge: judging the depth of bullets and platforms takes an eye that only practice sharpens. Reflexes, patience and memorizing the waves come first, for the penalty falls fast. Offbeat and formidable, it frustrates at first but fascinates those who tame its singular difficulty.
An isometric shoot them up from Aicom, Viewpoint brings to console the fearsome arcade shooter where the ship moves in an oblique perspective demanding a particular spatial reading of fire and enemies. The colourful art direction, the funky soundtrack and the stiff challenge make it a memorable piece, but of a notoriously merciless difficulty. The readability of the perspective disorients and allows no mistake. A demanding shmup for fans of uncompromising scoring and retro shooting with a singular perspective.
