The European version of Sega's arcade track-and-field games, Virtua Athlete 2K strings track and jump events together in the grand tradition of button mashing among friends. All the spice is in local multiplayer and the chase for records, a source of hearty laughs. Solo stays thin and the concept runs out of steam against today's Olympic sims. The presentation, decent for its time, has aged smoothly. A festive curiosity to bring out in a group more than a title to explore alone.
