WCW nWo Revenge polishes the AKI formula to its peak. Over forty wrestlers, a title-belt system and even more precise combat mechanics. One of the great wrestling simulations ever produced, deeper than the competition and lethally pleasant in the hand.

WCW/nWo Revenge (AKI/THQ) carefully models the wrestlers of the WCW federation and the nWo, with recognizable builds and outfits, in arenas faithful to the TV shows of the era. The art direction favors action readability and grounding in the late-1990s wrestling world. A solid art direction in service of a celebrated wrestling gameplay.
The soundtrack matches the energy of TV wrestling: recognizable entrance themes, nervy rock riffs and rhythms that heat the arena at every ring entrance. The music sustains the spectacle and the tension of the bouts, faithful to the electric atmosphere of WCW. A dynamic accompaniment, built for the wrestling show.
THQ and AKI European October 1998 pressing of WCW-nWo Revenge, which inherits the US code and adapts display to 50 Hz. The PAL cartridge is scarcer than the US version on the European secondary market due to a PAL rollout concentrated on the United Kingdom and Germany. A precise target for PAL AKI enthusiasts completing the European WCW diptych on N64 before the studio's switch to the WWF license in 1999.
Better with friends
A refined sequel to the in-house wrestling, richer in holds, characters and a momentum meter that rewards showmanship. The competition gains depth without losing its immediacy, and multiplayer matches tip into a joyful anarchy of tags and reversals. Smoother and more readable than its elder, it strings together electric scuffles and finishes that get the couch on its feet.
Is WCW-nWo Revenge still worth playing in 2026?
WCW nWo Revenge refines AKI's formula at its best, with over forty wrestlers, a belt system and even more precise combat mechanics. It stands as one of the great wrestling simulations ever made, deeper than its competition and viciously enjoyable controller in hand. Animations flow, match pacing feels right, the AI still convinces. For retro wrestling fans and precise combat lovers, the cart remains an essential N64 pick today, ideal just before or after WrestleMania 2000 on the same hardware.
