"Solid"
The giant machines break with the roundness of everything else. These jointed hulls show their rams, riveted plates, exposed cables and stencilled numbers, in a palette of industrial grey and worksite orange that exists nowhere else in the game. Seeing them in the middle of a town drawn in soft colours produces a deliberate mismatch, and the pilot stays tiny within the frame.
The machine clashes get a fanfare reserved for them. Brass in sustained chords, rolled timpani, a male choir in detached syllables and a saturated guitar over the top: that writing appears nowhere else and openly pastiches the title sequences of robot series. Since it is kept for a handful of sequences, its triggering is enough to announce a set piece before the image arrives.

Exploring two worlds in parallel, recruiting a host of brand-new Yo-Kai and orchestrating battles now laid out on a tactical grid reignites the medallium hunt with a fresh strategic dimension. Quests and collecting stretch out everyday life. The pacing scatters, but this scope and the attachment to the creatures keep a stubborn hold on fans.

Following Nate in the United States and his friend Hailey in Japan doubles the playgrounds of an abundant collecting RPG. The ample main quest, new Yokai to recruit and reworked battles hold you for long hours. That generosity of content, true to the series' spirit, offers a lifespan dear to fans.

Is Youkai Watch 3 - Sushi still worth playing in 2026?
The third entry in Level-5's saga, Yo-Kai Watch 3 changes scenery by sending Nate to the United States while following in parallel his friend Hailey, who stays in Japan. The combat system is rethought on a grid where the placement of Yokai finally matters, adding a welcome tactical layer. The world grows in scope and tonal variety, even if the dual protagonist structure sometimes weighs on the pace. For a series fan or a fan of monster RPGs, the title keeps a richness and a whimsy still infectious.
