The text boxes give way to acted scenes. Everything now passes through fully voiced sequences in volume, with a moving camera, shot and reverse shot and actors' gestures, where the two previous entries lined up fixed portraits and written lines. The deliberately rough grain of the faces and the hard lighting sharpen the impression of a chamber piece filmed rather than told.
The score has to work in any order. Since the episodes are played out of sequence, no piece can prepare the next: each is written as a closed unit, with no build that would call for a continuation and no conclusion that would close anything. The composer therefore favours sustained textures and circular motifs, and the unity of the whole comes from a shared timbre rather than from a progression.
The story is handed out in fragments received out of order. Three teams locked in a shelter live through hours that do not follow one another, and you have to piece the chronology together yourself from scenes whose place you do not know. The heaviest decisions are sometimes taken on a coin toss, which installs an unusual fatality and makes every replay more bitter.

The cutscene presentation shows a few limits, but the twisty writing more than makes up for it.
