A more generous and more playable sequel, with better-paced levels. Still demanding, but clearly far friendlier to newcomers than the first entry.

Collector interest

North American Genesis edition of the Sunsoft sequel, with sealed copies reaching among the highest figures for the console's late platformers. The late-generation US cardboard box offers little protection, making intact boxes rare and explaining the wide gap between affordable loose carts and complete or sealed sets. Unlike the PAL run, the US version turns up more often loose, making it a target for collectors chasing complete rather than the cart alone.

Is Aero the Acro-Bat 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 extends the adventures of Sunsoft's acrobatic bat with new fairground environments and enriched platforming mechanics. The handling is better controlled than in the first installment, the level design more generous and the visual identity as striking as ever. The difficulty stays high and some ideas can be disorienting. For fans of demanding retro mascot platformers and the Aero series, this more accomplished sequel is the best entry point into the character's acrobatic universe.
