A careful port of the second chapter, with its uneasy streets and stubborn zombies. The dual campaign remains a structural masterclass and the dread still hits hard with a pad in hand.

Collector interest

Biohazard 2 Value Plus is the Japanese Dreamcast reissue of Resident Evil 2, one of two late Capcom ports on the console after PS1 and N64. Very high collector value: a limited local print, late-cycle Dreamcast release and the two discs (Leon and Claire) bundled in the original case. Rarely complete on the Japanese secondary market.

Memorable bosses

Across Raccoon City, the same foe keeps returning, ever more monstrous: William Birkin mutates with each encounter, from clawed colossus to unrecognizable mass of flesh. That biological escalation, paired with a Tyrant who hunts without pause, raises the tension from one duel to the next. The grotesque decay of a boss who refuses to die remains a peak of '90s horror.

Is Biohazard 2 - Value Plus still worth playing in 2026?

This Dreamcast port delivers the best console version of its era for Resident Evil 2, with sharper textures, the original English voice work and quick access to both scenarios. The Raccoon City precinct is still a textbook playground for survival horror, and the Leon/Claire double campaign retains real replay value. Tank controls take a little getting used to, yet the tension built by narrow corridors and scarce ammunition holds up remarkably well today.
