The fighters are drawn by hand, frame by frame. No modelling here: every character has hundreds of cels traced and then coloured one by one, with thick black outlines and brush-applied gradients, which allows deformations impossible to obtain in volume. The backgrounds, painted in superimposed layers scrolling at different speeds, complete this entirely graphic manufacture.
The pieces are genuine songs, not accompaniment loops. Verse, chorus, bridge, guitar solo and vocals in English: every character arrives with a complete track, written and performed inside the studio itself, and a whole duel lasts roughly the length of an album cut. That ambition of writing gives the fights the air of a concert rather than of a mere match.
