Darkwing Duck as an excellent action-platformer. Capcom delivers another exemplary licensed game. The cape and gadgets are well used. Fully on par with Chip 'n Dale.

The US NES version of the Capcom Disney title, on the console's flagship market. Its stage-select structure aligns it with 'Mega Man', which made it a Capcom fan favourite. Widely distributed, the loose US pressing stays accessible and value shifts toward graded sealed copies and CIB in a non-warped cardboard box. Paired with 'DuckTales', it feeds a complete-series reflex that keeps NTSC demand durable.

Is Darkwing Duck still worth playing in 2026?

Darkwing Duck is an excellent Capcom action platformer drawn from the Disney series. The protective cape, varied gadgets and open level design build an experience halfway between Mega Man and Chip 'n Dale, with a real identity of its own. Stages are picked in free order like a Mega Man, the soundtrack sticks and the controls are precise as you expect from Capcom at the time. For retro Disney platforming fans and Capcom 8-bit peak lovers, still a very recommendable classic to replay today.
