This instalment crosses a technical threshold: the sprites are redrawn at a markedly higher resolution, making costume and facial details legible where they were previously only suggested. The Netherworld is structured in strata, underground prison, administrative halls, surface, each handled with its own dominant hue recalling where you stand in the hierarchy.
Tenpei Sato gives a larger place here to character themes: every important figure has a melody, taken up on piano in the quiet scenes and by the full ensemble during confrontations. The credits songs, sung in Japanese, close the chapters on a plain emotion that contrasts with the excess of everything else.
A once-feared vampire now bound by an absurd promise, Valvatorez rises against a corrupt demonic government. Behind the unbridled humour, the tale celebrates loyalty, conviction and dignity with unexpected sincerity. This spirited satire extends the saga's narrative verve with panache.
