DoDonPachi is one of the greatest bullet hell games ever made, developed by CAVE. Intense bullet storms and deep scoring in a vertically frenetic shmup. The PS1 version falls slightly short of the arcade but remains an extraordinary experience for demanding shmup fans.

A cornerstone of the bullet-curtain shoot 'em up by Cave, whose Japanese version remains the only physical form available on the console. Its reputation as a danmaku benchmark makes it a sought object among scoring fans, a small but fervent and international niche. The relative scarcity of this local run, never reissued at scale, supports a value above that of more widely distributed shmups.

Is DoDonPachi still worth playing in 2026?

DoDonPachi is one of the greatest bullet hells ever made, developed by CAVE. Intense bullet rain and deep scoring in a frenetic vertical shmup, the title became a danmaku genre reference. PS1 version slightly below arcade but preserves essentials: recognisable patterns, reduced hitbox, exclusive arrange mode. An absolute classic to bring out today.
