This Japanese version foregrounds the hero's visual overhaul. Haseo, of the Adept Rogue class, wears an angular silhouette with red locks and paired blades, and passes through several forms as he grows, from scrawny teen to honed fighter. Against him, data corruption warps foes and settings into swarming black masses, a strong graphic mark of this arc.
On the music side, it is the Avatar clashes that strike. When Haseo summons Skeith, the devouring entity lurking within him, the soundtrack tips into a grandiose register, dark choirs and hammered brass that turn these titanic duels into set pieces. These themes contrast with the calm of the play areas and mark the peaks of the adventure.
The scenario weaves a second layer, outside the fictional game. Behind the battles hides a very real plague, players struck into comas after certain encounters, a phenomenon the server's managers try to hush up. The plot takes on the air of an inquiry into a system anomaly, where the computing mystery counts as much as the heroic adventure.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

The real time combat snappier than the first series, the meta universe about online games and the multi episode narrative give real depth. The slow pace and the structure split into volumes can deter. An action RPG to recommend for fans of serialised stories and mysterious virtual worlds.
