Collector interest

GBA reissue of Ice Climber in the Famicom Mini collection, a tribute to the 1985 cooperative climbing game whose heroes Popo and Nana would gain late fame through the Super Smash Bros series. The cartridge keeps the slippery physics and the original two-player mode, in a case reproducing the Famicom packaging. Its collecting interest rests on this renewed visibility of the climbing duo and on the title's place in the commemorative line for the Famicom's twentieth anniversary.

Is Famicom Mini 03 - Ice Climber still worth playing in 2026?

A GBA reissue of the 1985 Famicom classic, Ice Climber has Popo and Nana scale snowy mountains by smashing ice blocks, alone or in twos. The vertical climbing concept and the slightly slippery handling demand real rigour, and the co-op mode stays a particular spice, between mutual aid and sabotage. The repetition and the harsh jumps betray the era, but the charm remains. For someone curious about Nintendo heritage or a fan of tough retro platforming, the title keeps a nostalgic appeal and a likeable challenge.
