Story
★★★★★
"Anecdotal"
The edition tends the crowd as a spectacle in itself. The stands fill with unfurled banners, tifos in the club's colors, brandished scarves and mass movements that ripple through the terraces before kickoff. The eye is drawn as much to these living stands as to the pitch. The art direction makes the crowd a moving set, able on its own to supply the atmosphere of a great occasion.
The venue's sound borrows from American sports PA. Goal horns that blare after every score, jingles piped through the concourses, organ and clap-along rhythms to relaunch the roar, a whole stadium vocabulary imported from hockey and baseball arenas comes to support the match. The soundtrack thus colors football with the energy of a local event, closer to the arena than to the terrace.
Gameplay
"Excellent"
Fun
"From the very first seconds"
Football in all its fervour: official teams, an electric stadium atmosphere and gameplay that rewards the right pass and the well-judged shot. Scoring a goal at the end of a fine move delivers an instant joy, multiplied in multiplayer. Accessible yet rich, this football sim serves up matches as intense among friends as online, for spirited evenings.
Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Building your dream squad card after card in Ultimate Team, playing a match, then coming back to fine-tune your tactics kicks off a loop where there's always a next goal to aim for. Progressing in career and online rewards every fixture. The flagship mode's microtransactions call for caution, but the sheer pleasure of play and the quest for the perfect roster hold you for the long haul.
Difficulty
"Easy"
Lifespan
"Massive"
The Player Impact Engine, simulating collisions up close, makes duels unpredictable and tempts you to go again. At the heart of this North American edition, it's mainly career seasons, the journey of a Pro and online leagues that devour the time. The demanding handling, rewarded as you progress, makes it a title you return to for a long while.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Collector interest
FIFA Soccer 12, the American name of the 2012 vintage, with content identical to FIFA 12 in Europe. Produced in large numbers for the US market, it stays unremarkable, without value or scarcity. Its sole peculiarity is this distinct regional label, a detail for the naming completist, the game itself remaining an annual sports title devoid of collector value.
Better with friends
Accessible, spectacular soccer cut out for four-player evenings where you form mixed teams for matches as tense as they are convivial. The competition is savored in one-twos, long-range strikes and cheeky celebrations after a last-minute goal. Easy to fire up for a quick match, it turns every game into a pride duel and a generator of friendly rivalries.
Is FIFA Soccer 12 still worth playing in 2026?
FIFA 12 remains one of the best entries of the generation, thanks to Tactical Defending that turned defence into a genuine art, demanding positioning and anticipation rather than simple button presses. Coupled with the Player Impact engine for more realistic contact, it offered the deepest gameplay of the series at the time. The title has since been refined by its sequels and its online servers have closed. But the richness of its system still shows locally, and the demanding fan will find a relevant simulation. A solid vintage for anyone who appreciates tactical football.
