The sequel to Konami's comic Japanese thief adventures. Bigger, more varied, even funnier. Japanese folklore enters a colorful action-adventure. Japanese only but visually expressive.

Collector interest

The Famicom sequel to Konami's cult series, Japan-exclusive and noticeably harder to find boxed than the first entry. The cart uses a Konami expansion chip for richer sound effects, an element appreciated by chiptuners. Intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and manual has become a target for Goemon collectors, and the cote rises alongside foreign curiosity for a series that never left the archipelago at the time.

Is Ganbare Goemon 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Ganbare Goemon 2 on Famicom continues the comic Japanese thief's adventures from Konami. Bigger, more varied and funnier than the first, the title spreads colourful Japanese folklore through an action-adventure mixing platforming, exploration and imposing bosses. Originally Japan-only, the game stays visually expressive and approachable with minor help. A genuinely recommendable detour today, especially in local co-op.
