A cute Japanese action adventure by Lenar, mixing exploration and light shooting. Charming, short, truly obscure but worth the detour.

Collector interest

A 1997 ASCII Super Famicom action-adventure, Japan-exclusive, a 16-bit Zelda homage transposed into a sci-fi Wild West. The cart was released at the very end of the SFC cycle with a drastically short print, and its offbeat humour made it a cult object among niche collectors. Intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and illustrated manual has become a serious target for late-cycle SFC collectors, and the cote climbs hard.

An underrated gem

Picture a Zelda transplanted into a zany Wild West, with a hero who falls from the sky and humor at every turn: that's this little gem, released at the very end of the console's life. Its Japan-only status and late arrival doomed it to anonymity. Snappy, funny and surprisingly well-paced, it will delight fans of sparkling action-adventure.

Is Ganpuru - Gunman's Proof still worth playing in 2026?

Never released outside Japan, Ganpuru - Gunman's Proof is a cute leaning action adventure by Lenar, namely a top down Zelda inspired exploration paired with very readable shooting sections. The art direction is bright, the humor light and the controls surprisingly precise. A fan translation exists. The title remains a well kept secret of the SFC catalogue. Recommended to fans of 2D Zelda, nimble fingered shooting and hunters of overlooked 16 bit experiences enjoyable in a handful of hours.
