Grand Theft Auto GBC port, Rockstar top-down urban action. Decent GBC animations and original mechanics. An overlooked curiosity for nostalgic GTA fans.

A questionable morality

Seen from way overhead, daily life comes down to stealing cars, flattening a few pedestrians and chaining missions for crooks, all to climb in the underworld's esteem. Shrunk to tiny sprites, the chaos looks almost harmless, and you rack up offences with a nonchalance that real life wouldn't forgive for a single second.

Is Grand Theft Auto still worth playing in 2026?

A GBC port of the very first Grand Theft Auto, this title transposes the top-down crime action onto the little machine surprisingly well: cars to steal, urban missions and large-scale chaos. The technical feat of fitting an open city onto the GBC stays remarkable, and the sandbox side keeps a whiff of freedom. Inevitably less legible and rougher than on PC, it shows its limits. A fascinating historical curiosity for fans of the saga and lovers of improbable ports.
