The battle map never stops: units advance continuously, their range circles overlap and deform, and spell trajectories stay visible for as long as they take to resolve. The screen becomes a living diagram in which reading the situation matters more than the detail of the scenery.
Crevanille serves in a security force rather than a conquering army, which shifts the viewpoint: war is seen from its thankless chores, escorts, evacuations, reports to be written. Relationships formed with secondary characters therefore weigh more than the battles, and decide which of the endings closes the story.
