Ace Attorney 4 Gyuakuten Saiban on 3DS, the entry with Apollo Justice as new hero. The controversial narrative pivot of the franchise with a darker tone. Writing still brilliant despite the transition to a new protagonist.

The newcomer deliberately breaks the established charter. Where the series dressed its lawyers in dark suits and ties, this one wears a bright red waistcoat, an open collar and a visible bracelet, with a relaxed posture his elders would never have taken. Opposite him, the familiar figures return aged, unshaven, in duller tones, and that drawn ageing says everything about what happened in between.
An electric guitar enters a world that had never had one. The new lawyer's motif is carried by a single instrument, dry, almost offhand, a long way from the solemn brass attached to his predecessors, and its mere presence signals a change of generation before the story explains it. The older themes, when they come back, then sound like quotations from an archive.
The game opens on the downfall of its former hero. Accused of producing forged evidence, disbarred, reduced to playing piano in a bar, he becomes the new lawyer's first client, who therefore has to judge his own model before he can plead for him. That symbolic execution, set up in the very first case, turns everything that follows towards the question of what a system without trust is worth.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Is Gyakuten Saiban 4 still worth playing in 2026?
The fourth entry in the Ace Attorney series, Gyakuten Saiban 4 introduces young lawyer Apollo Justice and his Perceive ability, which reveals witnesses' nervous tics during cross-examinations. The lively writing, humor and courtroom twists stay the heart of the fun, even if Phoenix Wright's absence from the lead role divides fans. The form remains that of a courtroom puzzle novel. An excellent entry point as much as an estimable sequel, to be savored by fans of narrative investigation games.
