Ketsui refuses the fantastical: armored vehicles, oil platforms, attack helicopters and convoys drawn with the dryness of technical illustration, over grey seas and concrete bases. The enemy bullets, green and packed like swarms of flies, stand out all the more against this muted military palette because the scenery never tries to charm.
The soundtrack is a sonic briefing: low drones rumbling like a transport engine, martial percussion held without emphasis, and very little melody, as if any musical seduction had been judged out of place. That austerity puts attention where the game wants it, on the ship's white dot, and turns the relative silence into a permanent state of alert.
