Satoshi Urushihara redraws the entire cast here: fine linework, carefully rendered drapery and full-page portraits that give the commanders the presence of cover art. The battle maps take on softer tones and retouched sprites, and the contrast between those sober tactical views and the highly detailed illustrations shapes the whole presentation.
Noriyuki Iwadare's themes are rearranged to exploit the CD format: broad brass for the army marches, melancholy strings in the interludes, heroic motifs carried from one episode to the next to bind the two campaigns together. The music carries the saga's military-opera side without ever smothering the measured slowness of the turns.
The two campaigns gathered here tell of the same sword two generations apart: a fallen prince takes back his kingdom, then his heirs face the empire born of it. The branches let the player pick a side, light, darkness or an independent path, and that choice rewrites both alliances and endings. A war story where the moral is never handed over in advance.
