A very successful adaptation of DMA Design's famous puzzle game. Saving these suicidal little creatures is still as stressful and satisfying as in 1991. A timeless classic that holds up.

Story
"Anecdotal"
The console's resolution allows more creatures on screen than the pocket version, which changes the nature of the problem posed: you manage a crowd rather than a group. The destructible terrain gains in fineness, each pickaxe blow eating into the material in small visible portions, and the palettes clearly separate the diggable from the impassable.

Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Assigning roles to a column of little creatures to guide them safely to the exit turns each board into a puzzle you want to crack in one go. The satisfaction of a plan clicking into place pushes you straight to the next level. The original mouse controls suffer on a pad, but the ingenuity of the puzzles stays captivating.

Is Lemmings still worth playing in 2026?

A port of DMA Design's cult puzzle, Lemmings asks you to guide little suicidal creatures to the exit by assigning them roles, digger, builder, climber or blocker, to clear levels riddled with traps. The brilliant concept of real time management and calculated sacrifice keeps all its intelligence and addiction. The 8 bit conversion reduces the number of lemmings on screen but preserves the bulk of the challenge. For a strategic puzzle fan, someone curious about a genre classic or a patient player, the title keeps a timeless depth and pleasure.
