Story
"Solid"
Two graphic regimes answer each other from one screen to the other. The waking world keeps the usual depth, shadows and built scenery, while the dream world tips into a strictly lateral plane, saturated in colour with simplified backdrops, where the laws of matter no longer hold. The sleeper appears there multiplied into dozens of copies that form staircases, whirlwinds or walkways.
Gameplay

"Mild"
Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Diving into Luigi's dreams to wage giant battles and solve brand-new puzzles, all while syncing jumps to precise timing, makes for an action RPG whose every clever idea rekindles curiosity. The choreographed attacks reward precision. The tutorials are chatty, but the overflowing imagination and the humor keep you hooked for the long haul.
Difficulty
"Balanced"
Lifespan
"Massive"
Switching between the real world and Luigi's dreams unfolds an inventive RPG where each dream opens fresh terrain and mechanics. The ample main quest, giant battles and side challenges hold you for long hours. That balance of humour, ideas and generosity offers a lifespan dear to Mario & Luigi fans.

Collector interest

NTSC Rev 1 of Mario & Luigi Dream Team is the stabilised build of the AlphaDream RPG, with post-launch fixes integrated. Its collector profile stays quieter than the initial pressing but corresponds to the most-played version and, on average, the best-kept by North American buyers. An intermediate piece for M&L collectors documenting both pressings.

Is Mario & Luigi - Dream Team still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2013 on 3DS and known in Japan as Mario & Luigi RPG 4 - Dream Adventure, AlphaDream's project extends the comic RPG series that mixes exploration, platforming and turn based combat built on action timing. The originality lies in Luigi's dream world, where the sleeper multiplies the hero into an army of Luigis for spectacular giant battles. The visual humour, the cheerful pace and the witty writing make for a charming adventure. The invasive tutorials weigh down the start. An excellent accessible RPG, recommended for fans of rhythmic turn based combat and of humour.
