Story
★★★★★
"Anecdotal"
As inspired as ever, the entry enriches the formula with catchy, varied electronic themes, from the dynamic "Spark Man" to the Wily stages. Capcom's music galvanises the action with a constant melodic energy. This sonic generosity confirms the series as an absolute benchmark of NES chiptune.
Gameplay
"Masterful"
The slide and the arrival of the loyal Rush enrich an already well-honed run-and-gun platformer, opening up new options for movement and firing. Still built on the weapons stolen from bosses, it fleshes out the content without losing any precision. Meatier than its predecessor, it retains a crystal-clear handling and a pace that are still a treat with a controller in hand.
The Japanese Famicom version of the third entry, Japan-exclusive under this subtitle, the debut of Rush and the slide. The Japanese cart is more accessible than the European PAL version but remains a structuring target for Capcom Famicom collectors. Intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and Capcom illustrated manual climbs steadily, sustained by the coherence of a Rockman Famicom collection in its entirety.
Memorable bosses
Richer still, this third round adds the slide and the enigmatic Break Man, whose appearances tighten the adventure. The Doc Robots replay former masters in tougher arenas, while Shadow Man or Snake Man impose their tempo. Between new mobility and a demanding boss rush, these clashes refine the formula without losing any of its melodic punch.
Is Rockman 3 - Dr. Wily no Saigo! still worth playing in 2026?
Mega Man 3 introduces Rush the dog and the revival levels featuring previous bosses, nearly doubling the content of a classic Mega Man. Slightly below Mega Man 2 in balancing and signature ideas, the title remains exceptional, with a remarkable soundtrack, sustained challenge and a more generous staging. The saga at its productive peak. A major classic to know today.
