Milestone compilation bringing together three Japanese arcade shmups (Karous, Chaos Field Wii, Radirgy). Very different difficulties per game, cel-shaded aesthetic typical of the studio. Dense but readable danmaku patterns, energetic rock soundtracks, arcade runtime. Karous particularly renowned for innovative crystal system. Good shmupper anthology, decent presentation. Niche but well-tuned.

Is Milestone Shooting Collection - Karous Wii still worth playing in 2026?

A vertical shooter from Milestone, Karous Wii transposes the arcade manic shooter to the console, with a dark aesthetic of stark monochromes and a weapon evolution system through experience gained in combat. The bullet density, the singular art direction and the arsenal progression appeal to genre fans. The difficulty barrier and the Japan exclusivity limit access. A niche shmup for fans of demanding bullet hell and Milestone's singular aesthetic.
