Collector interest

A 1992 Kunio-kun Famicom beat'em up, Japan-exclusive, with a one-on-one fight mechanic closer to fighting games than to a classic beat'em up. The cart is less widespread than the iconic Kunio-kun entries due to its late release, and intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve has become a target for completionist Technos Japan collectors. The cote climbs steadily, lifted by the global Kunio-kun surge.

Better with friends

A four-player street fight where each fighter punches, throws and grabs weapons in tight arenas, neighborhood-wrestling style. The competition is messy and joyful: makeshift alliances, backstabs and absurd reversals chain fits of laughter. Readable and snappy, it turns each melee into convivial nonsense you restart over and over for the title.

Is Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu still worth playing in 2026?

Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu is an explosive Technos multiplayer fighter on Famicom, up to four players at once in a battle royale ahead of its time. The Kunio-kun concept is applied to a pure arena mode, with weapons and special moves, in a grammar fans of the saga will recognise instantly. Overlooked but truly joyful with friends. A genuinely excellent detour to try today in local multiplayer.
