Collector interest

Pingu, based on the claymation penguin TV series, came out late in 1999 under Tomy, when the classic Game Boy was already giving way to the Color. That end-of-life timing, paired with a children's licence on a small Japanese print run, explains a high price for an otherwise minor title. Desirability arises from the cross of a recognisable Pingu licence and the scarcity of a very late monochrome release.
