Collector interest

The US NES 'Punch-Out!!' without Tyson, distributed after Mike Tyson was replaced by Mr. Dream. On the NTSC market this substitution is the core of the appeal: the Mr. Dream pressing documents the licence break and stays far more affordable than the rare original 'Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!', also a US release. Owning both NTSC variants is the reference goal for American collectors of the series.

Memorable bosses

More than a boxing game, this festival of duels rests on reading tells: each opponent telegraphs his blows, and surviving comes down to choreography learned by heart. King Hippo, Bald Bull and their colorful gallery precede a fearsomely fast final champion. Memory, timing and composure make these bouts a high point of the genre, endlessly addictive to replay.

Is Punch-Out!! still worth playing in 2026?

Punch-Out!! without Mike Tyson offers Mr. Dream as the final opponent, after the boxer's licence was dropped. The gameplay stays rigorously identical and just as perfect: read patterns and counter at the right time. The reference version of the experience after the Tyson licence expired, with one of the most accomplished gameplay loops on NES. Still a timeless classic to bring out today.
