The sequel beefs up the formula with races up to four, a shop to customise your vehicle and trickier tracks. The rivalry, already spicy, climbs a notch when everyone can shoot at the others. More generous and more convivial, this entry extends the joy of racing-combat without losing any of its edge, ideal for hotly contested evenings.
The European PAL NES edition of Rare's racing sequel, released at the end of the NES PAL cycle with a short print. The PAL cart is noticeably rarer than the US version and stands among the last big Rare NES PAL releases alongside Battletoads-Double Dragon. PAL boxed CIB in the original cardboard box climbs steadily, sustained by physical scarcity and the Rare aura that drives many complete NES PAL collections.
Better with friends
A top-down race where miniature machines scrap for victory with offensive power-ups grabbed on track, up to four. The competition blends precise driving and timely dirty tricks: dropping a mine at the right moment or snatching an overtake upends the order in an instant. Snappy and accessible, it triggers vengeful overtakes and trash talk, ideal to chain to fight over the podium.
Is R.C. Pro-Am II still worth playing in 2026?
R.C. Pro-Am II is Rare's sequel to the remote-controlled car racer, with richer content and up to four-player multiplayer via Four Score. More generous than the original, still as addictive and technically more impressive, the title keeps the arcade elegance of the original formula and adds varied tracks, new items and multiplayer challenges. One of the NES's best racers. Highly recommendable today.
