Collector interest

The US NES edition of Rare's racing sequel, released at the very end of the NES's commercial life in the States with a reduced print. That late release makes it a genuine NTSC rarity, far harder to find complete than mid-generation hits. The Rare studio aura and its twilight-NES status sustain durable demand, concentrated on a clean Black Box CIB and sealed copies.

Better with friends

A top-down race where miniature machines scrap for victory with offensive power-ups grabbed on track, up to four. The competition blends precise driving and timely dirty tricks: dropping a mine at the right moment or snatching an overtake upends the order in an instant. Snappy and accessible, it triggers vengeful overtakes and trash talk, ideal to chain to fight over the podium.

Is R.C. Pro-Am II still worth playing in 2026?

R.C. Pro-Am II is Rare's sequel to the remote-controlled car racer, with richer content and up to four-player multiplayer via Four Score. More generous than the original, still as addictive and technically more impressive, the title keeps the arcade elegance of the original formula and adds varied tracks, new items and multiplayer challenges. One of the NES's best racers. Highly recommendable today.
