Rock Band 2 improves everything: a clearer interface, more forgiving instruments and a properly beefed-up setlist. Probably the best Rock Band overall on the 360, ideal for memorable music nights. A must for rhythm fans.

Collector interest

Rock Band 2, a Harmonix sequel that expands band music gaming with a wider setlist and careful instrument compatibility, a high point of the genre on the console. Collector value rests mainly on the complete set with peripherals, the bare disc staying little sought. A supporting piece for music-game fans of the console, whose interest rests on the nostalgia of a now-passed fad.

Better with friends

A full-scale musical party where you form a real band, each on guitar, drums or vocals, to chain hits in time. Mutual aid is everything: holding the rhythm together and bailing each other out turns the session into a moment of collective euphoria. Access to the instruments shapes the full experience, but the unifying vibe makes it a high point of any group evening.

Is Rock Band 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2008 on Xbox 360, Harmonix's Rock Band 2 refines the band music game formula with a more generous setlist, sturdier instruments and an enriched World Tour mode. The concert experience among friends, on guitar, bass, drums and vocals, stays the peak of the genre's conviviality. The ability to import the first game's songs further fleshes out the repertoire. The closure of the online stores and the reliance on dedicated instruments limit access today. But the band energy remains. For fans of sociable rhythm games and the nostalgic for the genre, this title keeps a definite appeal.
