Collector interest

The original Japanese edition of Mega Man X5 from Capcom, with playable X and Zero in distinct styles and its timed-mission system that shapes the ending. Loose, the title stays common and cheap, but Japanese sealed copies climb sharply. It's that gap, more than any scarcity of the game, that drives collectors drawn to the source version of the X series.

Memorable bosses

Under the threat of a space colony about to crash, the fights are steeped in fresh urgency. X and Zero face a new wave of Mavericks while the mercenary Dynamo regularly crosses blades with them. Between weaknesses to exploit and a looming countdown, the tension climbs to a craftier Sigma than ever. A dense dramaturgy that darkens the formula.

Is Rockman X5 still worth playing in 2026?

The fifth entry in Capcom's X branch, Rockman X5 extends the series' snappy action platforming with playable X and Zero, an arsenal of unlockable armours and a darker plot around a countdown threatening a space colony. The responsive gameplay, the air dashes and the demanding bosses keep up the intensity dear to the sub series. A random element on certain parts and an uneven pace divide opinion. A good action entry to recommend for fans of snappy platforming and of the X line.
