An ambitious Level-5 action RPG, released late in the generation on PS2 as attention had already shifted to the next. Its late arrival limited print runs, especially in PAL, making it a title prized by JRPG fans seeking a quality exclusive that is a bit harder to find. Its desirability lies in this status as a twilight great RPG of the machine rather than in any add-ons.

Is Rogue Galaxy still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2005 on PS2, Level-5's project offers a space action RPG of wild generosity, roaming picturesque planets across a cosmic adventure tale. The real time combat, mixing melee and firearm with exhilarating fluidity, delivers a nervous and deep system. The richness of the side systems, from weapon crafting to the invention factory and insect hunting, hugely fleshes out the longevity. The cel shaded art direction has aged magnificently. A few overlong stretches remain. A great underrated action RPG, recommended for fans of the genre who love a generous adventure packed with things to discover and master.
