This expansion pushes the spectacle a notch further, on the side of special moves. The art direction unleashes ultimate attacks that fill the whole screen with effects, luminous calligraphies, bursts and abstract backdrops that interrupt the action for the length of a flourish. The widened roster adds its own colourful figures, and the whole thing outbids the series' already baroque exuberance.
The music organises its fire around the characters. To each lord his theme, often built on a recognisable motif that announces him from his entrance, and clashes of rivals make these signatures answer one another. Beneath the common rock energy, this gallery of leitmotifs gives each figure its sonic colour, so that a duel is heard as a joust of melodies.
