Silent Hill Origins traces the legend's roots with Travis. Snappier survival horror, preserved Konami mood and tight runtime. A worthy PS2 prequel, best played in the dark.

Description
A Climax Studios and Konami survival horror released in 2008, a PS2 port of PSP's Silent Hill Origins. A prequel to the first Silent Hill: trucker Travis Grady saves a young girl from a fire and finds himself trapped in the ghost town. More dynamic combat than the Team Silent entries, more accessible atmosphere. The first Silent Hill developed outside the original Japanese studio.

NTSC-U edition of the console port of Silent Hill Origins, a prequel first released on PSP. The American PS2 pressing was even quieter than its PAL counterpart and landed at the very tail of the format's North American support, so it saw thin retail presence at launch. The US market values this regional scarcity and its place within Konami's Silent Hill lineage.

Is Silent Hill Origins still worth playing in 2026?

A survival horror from Climax first developed for PSP then ported to PS2, Silent Hill Origins goes back to the series' origins, following a truck driver trapped in the foggy town, confronted with his fears and the shift between the real world and the rusted world. The oppressive atmosphere, the chilling sound design and the fidelity to the saga's identity win over fans. The breakable weapon combat system and a modest production temper the whole. A good game for fans of psychological horror and the Silent Hill series on PS2.
