Released in 2005 on consoles, this entry adapts the Maxis flagship sequel by grafting on an aspiration and life goal system that gives each Sim a direction. Managing wants, relationships and ageing gains depth and consequence, which strengthens the attachment to the characters. The controller interface stays less flexible than on PC and the presentation has aged. Fans of life simulation and of the license find a structured console version, able to absorb long evenings despite its constraints.
