Eurocom action adventure set in ancient Egypt. A mix of platforming, puzzles and combat with two characters and different mechanics. Lovely art direction and a likeable story. A touch stiff pad in hand but a small forgotten success in the catalogue.

An underrated gem

Blending Sphinx's brawny adventuring with the stealthy puzzles of a clumsy mummy, this journey through a fantasized Egypt exudes a Zelda-like charm too often overlooked. Launched without fanfare, it long languished in obscurity before a late re-release. Fans of classic, polished action-adventure will make a fine discovery.

Is Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy still worth playing in 2026?

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is an Egyptian-themed action-adventure from Eurocom that alternates Sphinx's exploration and combat with the slapstick stealth sections of the clumsy mummy. This dual approach, its polished mood and well-paced puzzles make it a gem that stayed too quiet. The game has aged rather well, carried by a colorful art direction and clever level design. For fans of Zelda-style adventure and unfairly forgotten games, it is a genuinely recommendable rediscovery.
